Nope it's not the new age bank robbery attire nor have we escaped from an operating theatre, it is just all the rage this (flu) season. I am pretty sure orange isn't my colour but hey all in the name of fashion. There really is nothing worse than going viral!

Super Dog
This was a little bit of fun for the day. Cam was feeling a bit off colour and so wasn't keen to exercise together so instead he sat and enjoyed another sunny day while the dog had me run round like a crazy lady. She has trained me well!

Sunny Days
Just when I was starting to panic I might have go shopping and buy new clothes because all of mine were dirty (such a shame that would have been) the sun decided to grace us with its presence. To celebrate I spent the day doing washing, lots of washing. Right to the bottom and the hand washing kind of lots of washing. It was truly amazing what I found there.
Cam was off mountain biking and while most woman would cringe at spending a good part of the day washing and cleaning it was a great feeling for me to be able to help out. Usually housework totally exhausts me and even just making the bed can wipe me out. While I am feeling good it was nice to give my wonderful house husband a break (and washing all those garments he doesn't dare touch). Yup that's right, I really like doing the washing. High five for seeing the bottom of the laundry basket!

Weekend Musings
We had a wonderful evening last night - amazing takeaway dinner (anyone in or heading to Brisbane MUST try the Himilayan Cafe!) with even better company! It was so wonderful we had brain fade and forgot to post a photo! Whoops! We don't go out of an evening very often because it is tricky to work around my treatments but as I am feeling pretty good at the moment it was doable!
We are spoilt with the people we have in our lives and the friends we have made since moving to Queensland have been such a blessing. It was lovely to spend a relaxed evening with a few of them. The only mishap was the fact there was amazing cake! C-A-K-E. I love cake, sugary, contrabanned cake. Cam also loves cake and he couldn't resist. The effects of chocolate ganache cake on someone who has been sugar free for over three months are pretty tragic. Hangover-like even! It was a sad house this morning.
To get some fresh air and the blood flowing we decide to explore some trail walks this afternoon. It was a gorgeous winter day and the air felt fresh and clean. Of course we took our little explorer with us and she also had a ball!
What are your weekend plans?

Thankful Thursday
Plans. Planning. Planned. I love order and lists and routine. I thrive on it but so often we find it hard to make plans or have any type of routine because when I am unwell nothing is organised or predictable or planable. I thankful for four organised weeks! Four weeks with minimal clinic visits and unplanned hospital trips (there has still been a few) and of feeling capable and well enough to plan catch-ups and coffee dates and which gym classes I want to go to during the week.
And of course I am thankful for the way Cam deals with this and my need to pack all my 'lost weeks' into the present ones! How great is it to be busy! Organised busy that is.

Patience
Living with chronic illness is a great teacher of patience. Whether it be waiting for test results, waiting for scripts to be filled or getting through long days in hospital you often find yourself waiting for things to happen that you have no control over.
I have to say I have become a more patient person but it still isn't my strong point. Yesterday Cam and I had planned to spend the day up on the Sunshine Coast having lunch at our favourite Cafe and then going for a walk and a ride for Cam. We were organised the night before and planned to get up early.
In the morning though, we woke up to rain and I then discovered a small patch of mould on a couple of our windows. Mould for my sensitive lungs is disasterous and instead of leaving early we had to spend time dealing with it. To top it all off we discovered that our lunch spot was closed for renos! We decided to head up the coast anyway because at the very least the salt air would be good for me.
In the car I got frustrated by my portable nebuliser pump - it was being slow! Cam decided to take a minor detour to give me time to finish the medication. Besides he said the rain was still heavy, not great walking weather.
It was at this point our day changed! Cams detour came out at a cafe we had wanted to try for ages! We had a fantastic lunch and even sugar free key lime and avocado tart! Once we had finished lunch we headed to the beach were please that the rain had cleared enough for Cam to ride and me to walk.
The afternoon was still stormy looking and grey but it wasn't cold. The waves crashed in and foamed at the waters edge and Perra ran along in search of the perfect stick. I was a little annoyed to have to stop for a snack when I suspected my blood sugars were a little low. The only thing that was close enough was a fish and chip store.
Perra and I took a package of hot paper wrapped potato cakes down to the beach and sat in the sand and the wind enjoying them. It was a pretty perfect moment. We then continued to then end of the beach . The light was starting to fade a little and the sea looked like something out of the books I love as a child about shipwrecks. Out of the waves appeared a pod of dolphins with a couple of very small ones amongst them! They hung around and so did we until the skies got darker and the rain rolled in! Perra and I walked back in the pouring rain. It was the perfect afternoon and completed by coffee with my husband (who had stayed perfectly dry on his ride)!
If we hadn't been late leaving or my pump hadn't been slow we wouldn't have had the perfect lunch. Cam might not have had a dry (and safe) ride. If I hadn't had a hypo I wouldn't have got to enjoy sitting on the beach or have seen the dolphins. Sometimes things are just as they should be - we just have to be patient.
