When you have done two hours worth of treatments, taken more than ten different medications, peed in a cup, had a physio session, had the dreaded weekly PICC line dressing change and been stabbed by a bllod nurse all before 11AM, its fair to say there have been better days. And just incase I didn't feel like I had spent enough time at the hospital today at 8.30PM I discovered, as the Queensland rain gods were having a bit of a disco, my PICC line wasn't infusing! Cue trip to the Emergency Department! Here's the hot tip folks, when presenting at Emergency with an occluded PICC and freaking out a little on the inside that you might have a blood clot, check that said PICC line is unclamped (tuned on!)... Thank goodness we can start afresh tomorrow.
